The warehouse of Uffizi
Within the so-called "New Uffizi" project, an important intervention was undertaken in the rooms for storing artworks, which, although remaining on the floors on the west wing that were reduced by half, were enlarged on the mezzanines, leaving some free spaces on the first floor that became part of the route through the exhibition.
A storeroom is definitely a fascinating place, not accessible to the public, and generally used for storing those works that cannot be part of the exhibited collection due to lack of space.
The reorganization provided for interventions to protect the works from the risk of fire and the introduction of special air-control and electrical systems.
The system chosen to preserve the works is quite interesting and functional:
gridded panels that can be hung from the ceiling and, above all, modular, thus granting absolute freedom of position and visibility.
