uffizi room 47 dei pittori olandesi leida xvii secolo
This space is actually a corridor, where paintings of the Dutch school of the 17th and 18th centuries of the city of Leida can be admired; by following this corridor, one arrives at rooms 50 and 53 respectively, where specimens of 17th- century painting of the cities of The Hague, Delft and Rotterdam are exhibited.
Among the artists represented in these rooms are Frans van Mieris the Elder, with scenes of the genre characterised by a delight in detail and a fluent, elegant pictorial style, and Gerrit Dou, his teacher. The works of these two painters are mainly small in size.
